Common questions
Do I need internet to use Mercavo POS?
Only until you remove ads. The free version needs a connection so the ad banner can load; the one-time Remove Ads purchase drops that requirement, and selling, scanning, generating bills, reports, and inventory all run with zero connection from then on. The only network use overall is loading ads (before purchase), the purchase itself (handled by Google Play / App Store), and optional anonymized crash reports.
Is Remove Ads a subscription?
No. Remove Ads is a single one-time purchase. Pay once, owned forever. Restore on any device signed into the same Google Play or Apple ID account via Settings → Restore Purchase.
Can I print government-registered tax receipts?
No — Mercavo POS generates informal order bills, not government-registered fiscal receipts. Removing ads lets you add your own header lines (tax ID, business permit, VAT number) for jurisdictions that just need that text included, but Mercavo is not a certified fiscal device.
How do I get my order bill?
Mercavo doesn't pair with printers or any hardware. Download the order bill straight to your device from the Order Bill screen.
What about services like haircuts or repairs?
Fully supported. When adding an item, toggle the type to Service — the Barcode and Stock fields disappear since they don't apply. Services share the rest of the catalog with products and can be filtered by category. A repair shop can sell parts and labor side-by-side; a barbershop can sell shampoo and haircuts.
How do I back up my data?
Settings → Backup & Restore → Export Backup saves your database, product images, and settings to a file you control — save it to cloud storage, email it to yourself, share it however you want. Android backs up to a .zip, iOS to a .mercavobackup file; restore on the same platform you backed up from — cross-platform restore isn't supported yet.
Will it work on my old phone?
Mercavo POS runs on Android 8.0+ (API 26) and iOS 16+. That covers the vast majority of phones still in use as of 2026. The app is designed to feel fast on low-end devices — no heavy frameworks, no animations that drain battery.
